Congo’s Ellecetion in 2006 | March 15, 2008

But, after Kabila obtained his position, he took some policy which is make coalition proved fragile. Kabila was not pleasant with the presence of the foreign troops . Then, Kabila ordered to chase them leave from the Congo. Subsequently, the coalition group was very angry with the Kabila decisions. Then, this prompted them to former new allies to gain the Kabila patties. The allies consist by the army force the called by new military movements.
As the solution for this conflict the belligerents signed the agreements in the Lusaka, then called Lusaka Agreements. Based on the Lusaka Agreements, one of the important consensus was to caused of Inter Congolese Dialogue. The Inter Congolese Dialogue finally started in February 2002, Kabila was eligible to be a president at the time being, and as a task from this forum the government must to organize free and transparent elections. Election process to be presented maximal on 30 July 2006. As the organizer of this process the agreement charged Commission Electoral Independence. Include on this election process 500 seat for parliament which is divided by 169 district. The elections adopted the open list system. Based on this system, seats are allocated to the candidate with the highest number of voices.
The result of this election generally took place in calm and good atmosphere. No less than 3 big parties are included in this election. PPRD, led by Kabila, MLC as a coalition with PPRD in parliament, the RCD led by Ruberwa, and Palu the party centered around Gizenga. For the president candidate no less than 5 candidate. Every big party offer their head of party as a president candidate, and two other from the small party, whose is Mobutu and Oscar Lukumuenda.
Actually, PPRD led by Kabila are eligible to conquer majority seats in Congo parliament. From 500 seats, PPRD obtain 111 seats, follow by the MLC and PALU, respectively 64 and 34 seats. As a president result, Kabila are eligible an feasible to elected. To sustain Kabila position, Kabila appointed Gizenga from PALU to be Prime Minister. However, this condition is not guarantee Kabila positions.
